How to Use the Law of Assumption: 35 Affirmations

Law of assumption affirmations are a powerful manifestation technique that can help to reprogram the subconscious mind and attract your desires. But how does it work and how do you use them? Let’s explore a little further:

What is the Law of Assumption?

The law of assumption was first conceptualised by American philosopher Neville Goddard, who purported that all of the world is simply a projection of our inner consciousness. It’s the belief that whatever you “assume” to be true becomes your reality; that the world is a mirror of your inner thoughts. The idea sounds simple, but is actually much more complex than you might think.

The law of assumption requires you to delve deep into your subconscious belief systems and the assumptions that you make about the world. It’s not as easy as repeating affirmations that state; “I assume x” and expecting that thing to manifest. It can't just be some surface level phrase that you repeat over and over, it has to be a sincere assumption.

You need to actually believe your assumption and match its emotional frequency as; “nothing comes from without; all things come from within the subconscious”. In order to manifest and change your outside world therefore, you first have to work on the assumptions that live within your subconscious mind.

How Do I Create Positive Assumptions?

If you’re stuck in a negative subconscious thought pattern or simply have a pessimistic view of the world then your assumptions are attracting more negative experiences into your life.

To create positive assumptions you first have to delve into the inner workings of your subconscious mind. Our subconscious minds are on a constant loop. You think around 90% of the same thoughts today as you did yesterday, without you even realising it.

The subconscious mind stores all of your assumptions, belief systems, trauma, memories, values and past experiences. So, if your basic assumption is that “life is tough” for example, you will continue to attract experiences that affirm that belief. To shift these assumptions you first have to identify where your negative assumptions stem from.

“Dare to believe in the reality of your assumption and watch the world play its part relative to its fulfilment”- Neville Goddard.

Where Do My Negative Assumptions Come From?

We begin to establish our subconscious programming during our formative years. Between the ages of 0-7 years old we absorb all of the information around us like a sponge as we observe the behaviour of our families, friends, society and culture. Through this conditioning we begin to develop our personal identity or “Ego”.

By the time we’re 8 years old we have solidified our major assumptions and beliefs systems about the world which become deeply ingrained in the subconscious mind.

These beliefs will follow us into adulthood without us even realising. A great way to identify and begin to shift these beliefs is through the law of assumption affirmations.

Why Should I Use Law of Assumption Affirmations?

Using positive law of assumption affirmations is a powerful way to reprogram the subconscious mind and shift your negative assumptions.

Reciting these affirmations introduces new information to the subconscious mind, sending new signals to the brain which will help to replace any of your self-limiting assumptions.

You may think that reciting affirmations is simply about repeating words and phrases over and over again, but there’s much more to it than that.

How to Use Law of Assumption Affirmations

Affirmations are much more than just repeating words, it’s about matching the emotional frequency of your words with your desired manifestation. When you truly believe in the words you're saying, it boosts the signal to your subconscious mind, to solidify new beliefs.

Working through this subconscious programming takes time and patience. It’s important to practice your affirmations once a day for at least 30 days, as this is how long it takes for the brain to build new neural pathways.

We recommend practicing your affirmations in the following way:

    1. Find a time when you can be alone
    2. Choose 1-3 of the affirmations below that resonate with you and feel free to customise them to your own desires
    3. Decide what you want - get clear about exactly what it is that you want
    4. Commit to your decision - if you find yourself doubting your affirmation with thoughts like "this will never happen" delve into where this self-limiting belief comes from and start your affirmation again
    5. Write it down - this will help physicalise your desire and give you something to refer to as you recite your affirmations
    6. Visualise - Immerse yourself in the feeling of your desire - while reciting your affirmation visualise what it would feel like if it were already true: how do you feel? What do you look like? Who have you become? What do your surroundings look like? Who is with you?
    7. Sit in this feeling - sit in this feeling for as long as you can as you raise your emotional frequency to your desire
    8. Assume it to be true - once you have completed your affirmations let go and assume that your desires will manifest. Be patient as it may takes, days, weeks or even months to manifest.
